
The Town of Pouch Cove is located on the Northeast Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland & Labrador. The Town is a 20-25 minute drive to St. John’s, the Capital City of the Province. Pouch Cove was incorporated in 1970 and has an active council within the Town. There has always been three dominant religions in Pouch Cove and there is a Catholic church, Anglican church and an United church within the community. It is said that Pouch Cove is the “first to see the sun” rise in North America.

Town services include weekly garbage collection, volunteer fire services, road maintenance and municipal water & sewer. Some residents are using the Towns partial services or use their own well & septic system. The mill rate for the Town is set at 9.25, water and sewer fees are $277.96 and the fees for water only are $138.92 per year. There are a number of local services such as; convenience store, drug store, automotive garage and a post office. Electricity, propane and oil are supplied by companies located in St. John’s.
Our Town is well connected to St. John’s via Flatrock and Torbay Road. We are within a 20-25 minute drive to the St. John’s International Airport, major health care facilities such as; The Janeway Children’s Hospital, Health Sciences Centre, Miller Centre and the H.R. Bliss Cancer Clinic. Also located nearby are public & private colleges and Memorial University. School bus service is provided to students of Pouch Cove that attend public schools. Infrastructure and services located in the Town are: the Town Council Office, Town Museum, Primary/Elementary School, St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Memorial United Church, All Saints Anglican Church & Parish Hall, two Day Care Centres and a Library with a Community Access Program Site.
The following groups are active in our community: Pouch Cove Lions Club, Seniors 50+ club, Library Board, Dart League, Recreation Commission, Community Development Committee, Volunteer Fire Department, United Church Women’s Group, United Church Men’s Club, Anglican Church Women’s Group and the Catholic Women’s League.
Pouch Cove has two softball fields, a children’s playground & park, and the Marine Park. There is a Parish Hall located in the Community that is used for various recreation and leisure activities.
The Town of Pouch Cove is a part of the Killick Coast tourism route, and a part of the East Coast Trail. The various walking trails and the scenic coastline/beaches attract tourists and residents alike for day outings, whale watching and evening campfires. Hikers can utilize walking trails that run along the coastline for breath taking scenery. There are two Bed & Breakfast accommodations, a Café and an Art Studio located within the community.
Pouch Cove has open green spaces with beautiful scenic areas. There are walking trails, berry picking grounds and outdoor swimming areas. Some of the events in the community are adult dances, preteen and teen dances and The Pouch Cove Fun Fest which is a day of family activities. Pouch Cove is located 20-25 minutes drive to the popular Stavanger / Aberdeen shopping area.
