The Pouch Cove Lions Club is part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service club organization. This club was granted its Charter on Dec. 22, 1982 and since then the members have been Proud Volunteers in their community, as they strive daily to live up to their Motto “We Serve”. The Lions meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Lions Club on Satellite Road.

The Lions Club’s major fundraisers are:

  • In House Bingo every Thursday evening starting at 8:00pm at the Lions Club
  • Radio Bingo, with cards available at all stores and businesses in the area
  • Christmas and Spring ticket sweeps
  • Community Calendar, which is on sale each year during September
  • Booth at the St. John’s Annual Regatta, on the first Wednesday in August
  • Cold Plate Takeout, Flea Market, Card Games, Dances at the Club on special Occasions

Funds from these fundraising endeavours, supported by the community, enable the club to give back to the community in various ways:


Education: Sponsorship of the Annual Senior School Speak-out, Peace Poster Contest, School Scholarships, Child ID Kits, School Back Packs, Project Pride & cash donations.

Public Library: Cash donations for extra books as needed & the summer reading program

Seniors: Christmas Dinner/Dance, Fruit Baskets, (shut-in) cash donation to Seniors Club

Fire Department: Cash donations and special equipment as needed

General Public: Kiddies Park, Youth Groups, Medical assistance to individuals as needed, i.e. wheelchair ramps, medical equipment & medical travel; Sponsorship for challenged individuals to attend summer camps & many other community requests.

Because of our seaside location we have been fortunate to have many retired people and younger, with many talents and from all walks of life, take up residence in our town. The Lions Club is always interested in increasing their membership and you may be a great asset to our Club, as well the Lions Club can provide a social atmosphere for you to get to know people in the area.
