Mayor Sarah PattenAs Mayor of the Town of Pouch Cove, I welcome you to our community. Our Town is very hospitable and offers much for visitors, such as hiking trails, kiddies park, berry picking, outdoor swimming, whale watching, the Marine Park with swimming/ outdoor activities and a Museum of our history. Cape St. Francis is the site of the former lighthouse and has wonderful scenic view of our coastline. Come join us for part of your vacation and have a wonderful time.

Faltrock and Area Minor Fastpitch

Residents are advise that the Flatrock and Area Minor Kids Fastpitch program will be starting in early June (weather permitting).

Ladies Softball

Residents are advise that we will be holding registration for Ladies Softball on Wednesday, May 16th from 7 - 8:30 pm.

Registration will occur at the Chalet.

Registration Fees are $30.

Helmet Giveaway

The office of Ches Crosbie Barristers is offering a province wide Give away of Helmets for any child who needs one.

Our firm is focused on safety at all levels and are pleased to be engaged in this program. Deadline is June 12 and all details are on our website at http://autoaccidentclaims.ca/?p=611

Only one pick up per household.

Debris and metals must be sort at roadside.

 

2012 Summer Program

Pouch Cove Recreation Summer Program is open to residents between the ages of 6 and 12 (within the 2012 Calendar year). Summer Camp will run from July 3rd to August 17th from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Registration will occur on Thursday, May 24th at the Pouch Cove Town Hall from 7-8 pm. We will be placing a cap on the number of youth enrolled in our program and this will be determined by the number of employment positions received. Summer Camp fees are as follows:

1 child - $80
2 Children - $120
3 or more Children - $160

Parents and guardians are required to pay the first week fees in advance and a $5 t-shirt fee per child. Based on the number of full- time campers, we may be accepting part- time campers.

Canadian Tire Jumpstart

Canadian Tire Jumpstart is a national charitable program that helps financially disadvantaged kids participate in organized sport and recreation. Jumpstart helps cover registration, equipment and/or transportation costs. Jumpstart applications can be obtain by contacting the Regional Recreation Coordinator or clicking on the attached file.  Applications need to be submitted to the Regional Recreation Coordinator by May 15, 2012.

Fitness Toning

Fitness Toning is designed to tighten and tone your muscles with combinations of weight exercises and light cardio. This is a moderate level class that can enhance your fitness and help you feel healthier. If you are new to working out or want an extra group workout come out to Fitness Toning! These workouts can be adjusted to suit your fitness level and all levels of experience are welcome.

Summer Employment

Summer Employment

Town of Pouch Cove and the Recreation Commission are currently accepting resumes for the Summer Employment Positions. (Subject to funding approval).

Requirements:

Applicant must have a valid first aid certificate covering the summer camp period (June 25 – August 31, 2012).

For part time positions, applicants must be attending grade 10,11 or 12 in the current school year.

Applicant must be presently attending a secondary or post-secondary institute full-time, with plans to attend full-time in September 2011.

Exhibit strong communication and leadership skills.

Previous experience working with children would be an assets but not required.

A wide knowledge of recreational and leisure activities.

Willing to be part of a team and help ensure a positive summer experience for campers.

Upon hiring a Code of Conduct from the RNC is required.

Flatrock and Area Soccer

Flatrock and Area Recreational League will be holding their registration on May 15th and May 17th from 7:00 to 9:00pm at Flatrock Town Hall. The age for registration is 4 years old before December 31st, 2012 to 17 years old. Volunteers are needed to help coach during the summer games. Phone 437-6945
